Background
The church of Christ at Berryville, Arkansas has supported the work of brother Moises Umana in Costa Rica for a period of over ten years. Several years ago, the church in Berryville purchased a meeting facility for the church of Christ in Tres Rios, Costa Rica. The congregation in Tres Rios has grown in that period of time from two families to an average attendance of 50-60 people each Lord's day. Every few years, the church in Berryville sends a missionary group to Costa Rica to visit, conduct a brief campaign, and overview the progress of the work in that country. This is my (Kevin Cauley) second trip to Costa Rica since beginning the work with the church at Berryville in January of the year 2002. The report of last year's trip is located on this same web site at http://www.the-churchofchrist.com/CR/2002. In the year 2003, Moises Umana began an additional mission work by planting a new church in the town of Coronado. The congregation there has three families that attend regularly in addition to the Moises Umana family.
Introduction
The elders of the church of Christ at Berryville determined to send a mission team to Costa Rica in the year 2003. This trip took place December 1st through the 8th of the same year. Those who went on the mission trip were as follows: Kevin Cauley, Mary Lynn Cauley, Larry Elliott, Susan Elliott, and John Gass. The purpose of the trip was to encourage the brethren, conduct a brief evangelistic campaign, and to review the work that was being done by Moises and his family both at the Tres Rios congregation and at the new congregation in Coronado. We also purposed to take some new materials (Bibles and song books) for the Coronado congregation. On a personal level, several of the participants also took used clothes, toys, and materials for the poor. The following report is a daily account detailing the work that was done and how our goals were met.
